In excellent condition, these two stacking collar boxes have a really beautiful textured chestnut leather exterior with working button closures. These boxes could be antique, but due to us not being certain on their exact age, they are being sold as vintage items. The exterior leather surfaces and interior felt linings show minor wear consistent with age and no major flaws to note. See listing photos for best description of condition. When closed, there is minor gaping around the sides of the lid where the lid meets the base. These boxes make perfect modern storage solutions and can be used anywhere in the home, studio, or office.
Leather collar boxes were primarily used in the 19th and early 20th centuries, particularly in the 1860s and beyond. They were designed to hold detachable shirt collars, a common fashion item, especially for formal wear and travel. While the detachable collar fell out of fashion by the 1960s, collar boxes continued to be used, particularly by clergymen, and are still available today

VINTAGE & ANTIQUE Vintage and antique items are pre-owned and aged goods. In most cases, we do not clean or polish any items that come into our shop. Once you remove an item's traces of age and patina it's not something you can reverse, so we leave those activities up to the buyer. We try our best to describe items accurately and disclose any and all flaws and imperfections. Please refer to pictures as a visual description. We want to make sure you are happy with your purchase so, please do not hesitate to ask any questions you may have prior to checkout.
SHIPPING As much as possible, we utilize recycled shipping boxes. The box you receive your item in may show signs of wear and pre-use.
PHOTOGRAPHY All photos are taken in natural light and we do not use any photo filters and do not perform and photo editing (other than basic photo cropping). Depending on your monitor settings, there may be subtle differences in color once you see your item in person.
