This set of two salvaged, hand-carved alabaster lamp bases offers a striking architectural presence for curated interiors. Carved in an elegant Neoclassical urn silhouette, the heavy stone columns feature a classic overlapping leaf motif across the central baluster and upper cap, resting securely on a tiered square plinth. The natural stone showcases beautiful, organic veining in warm creams, soft whites, and rich caramel tones that vary uniquely across each piece. Characteristic of salvaged vintage pieces, they display authentic wear, including minor edge chips and a visible stress line or historical repairs that blend into the natural veining. The hollowed undersides and top threaded hardware remain as charming testaments to their original electrical purpose.
Stripped of their outdated wiring and shades, these substantial mid-century Italian export pieces now function beautifully as pure sculptural obelisks. Their classical form makes them exceptional anchors for a mantel display, substantial bookends flanking a row of antique volumes in a moody Dark Academia library, or highly textural accent pieces within a Hollywood Regency vignette. The hollow top pipes can even be utilized to hold dried botanicals or dramatic pheasant feathers for an elevated accent.
