Add a touch of timeworn elegance to your coffee table or library with this exquisite antique Victorian beadwork tray. Resting on four charming bun feet (two of which are slightly loose and rotate, but remain securely intact), the scalloped wooden frame encapsulates a beautifully hand-stitched needlepoint and glass beadwork panel. The textile features a striking central floral motif surrounded by scrolling flourishes in shades of charcoal, silver, and white against a muted blue ground. The beaded surface remains largely intact with periodic shedding of the fabric pile and beading loss. The black beaded boarder is mostly missing and only small portions remain. True to its substantial age, the wooden frame exhibits significant character with multiple checks in the wood resulting from expansion and contraction over time along the carved edges, lending it an authentic, distressed patina that speaks to over a century of history. Perfectly suited for a classic English Hunt Country interior or a richly layered old world-inspired study, this tray serves as a magnificent foundation for staging antique leather-bound books, brass curiosities, or a collection of small, curated keepsakes.
