This exquisite pair of mid-century hand-colored art gravures, produced by the renowned Sungott Art Studios of New York, offers a sophisticated touch of Old World charm. Each piece features a classic caprice architectural scene, reminiscent of the 18th-century Romantic style, depicting figures among sun-drenched Italianate ruins, grand staircases, and tranquil waters. The prints are "enriched" with delicate hand-tinted washes that bring a subtle, painterly depth to the detailed engravings, making each one unique.
The gravures are housed in their striking, original hexagonal gilt wood frames, which feature a deep profile and elegant gold-leaf finish. The presentation is further elevated by custom-cut mats with arched openings and hand-drawn French lines that echo the geometric silhouette of the frames. On the reverse, the original studio labels remain intact, identifying them as Style No. 868 and certifying the hand-colored nature of the work.
Both pieces are in excellent vintage condition. The frames show light, age-appropriate patina that enhances their antique character. The backing paper is original and shows some minor tearing, but the hanging hardware is secure and ready for display. Perfect for a gallery wall, a dark-toned study, or as a sophisticated accent above a console table.
