Vintage Japanese Blue and White Phoenix Teacup and Saucer Set

A stunning example of Japanese ceramic artistry, this beautiful blue and white teacup and saucer set features a classic, vibrant pattern. This charming set is crafted in the traditional blue and white style, a hallmark of Japanese pottery, often inspired by historical Arita or Imari designs. The precise decoration utilizes the popular transferware technique, common in export wares.

The design is centered around a majestic Hō-ō (Phoenix), a powerful and auspicious symbol in Japanese mythology representing good fortune, fidelity, and renewal. The mythical bird is dramatically depicted amidst swirling sea waves and intricate karakusa (vine) scrolls and floral elements. Crafted in Japan, showcasing the country's celebrated ceramic tradition.

The thin delicate craftmanship is likely earthenware or porcelain. Estimated to be vintage in age, likely dating from the mid-20th century (Post-WWII era) when this style of Japanese export ceramics was extremely popular. This teacup and saucer set is in beautiful, aged condition with no chips, cracks, breaks or major flaws to note. Minor wear to the transfer print.

SHIPPING
As much as possible, we utilize recycled shipping boxes. The box you receive your item in may show signs of wear and pre-use.
