  • Details
Embrace the beautifully time-worn character of this antique Goofus glass vase, a striking accent piece perfectly suited for a Moody Vintage vignette or a curated Dark Academia space. Crafted from thick molded glass, the vase features a deeply embossed, high-relief floral pattern that wraps around its bulbous form. Originally, this piece was "cold-painted" with vibrant red and brilliant metallic gold over the raised design. Today, it boasts a heavily distressed, authentically flaking patina that reveals the glass beneath, a signature characteristic of Goofus glass that adds incredible texture and faded grandeur to any setting.

    Age & Manufacturer Research
Goofus glass was predominantly produced in America between 1900 and the 1920s, reaching peak popularity just before the rise of more durable Carnival glass. Because the paint was applied unfired over the pressed glass surface, it was inherently prone to peeling and flaking over time. While several prominent American glassmakers of the era produced this style—including Northwood, Imperial, and Crescent Glass—this particular deeply embossed floral vase design is most widely attributed to the Indiana Glass Company. Based in Dunkirk, Indiana, they were the single most prolific manufacturer of Goofus glass during its heyday and are highly recognized for these heavy, high-relief floral molds.
