  • Details
Steeped in the scholarly allure of a classic English library, this beautifully rebound antique edition of The History and Antiquities of Rochester and its Environs is a quintessential addition to any Dark Academia or Moody Vintage collection. Printed in 1772 (MDCCLXXII) in England by T. Fisher of Rochester and sold by S. Crowder in London, this 18th-century volume offers a fascinating glimpse into the past with its descriptions of ancient buildings, gentlemen's seats, and local towns. The handsome, smooth tan leather binding with raised spine bands and a contrasting black gilt-lettered label lends it the sophisticated warmth of an English Hunt Country estate or a curated Ralph Lauren-inspired study.

As shown in the listing photos, the spine presents beautifully on a shelf, while detail the clean rebind and the wonderfully aged text block edges. Opening the cover, reveals fresh endpapers with a penciled inscription of "1772 London", leading to the striking original title page. The true jewel of this volume is the delicate fold-out copper-plate map, A Plan of the City of Rochester, brilliantly displayed alongside the title page. The rich history continues into the text and is further embellished with intricate copper-plate engravings of historical seals. This exceptional tome seamlessly bridges centuries, offering both historical substance and refined aesthetic presence.
