  • Details
Add a striking piece of artisan craftsmanship to your decor with this spectacular vintage 1995 studio pottery raku vessel. This hand-thrown urn features a stunning dual-texture design that perfectly captures the unpredictable, elemental beauty of the raku firing process. The upper shoulder and rim boast a heavily textured, dark metallic-like finish with intense, volcanic pitting. In beautiful contrast, the bulbous body is finished in a classic creamy white crackle glaze, highlighted by intricate, smoky black crazing lines and gorgeous, speckled carbon-trapped details. The interior and a narrow band at the foot reveal the dark, smoked clay body characteristic of traditional raku reduction. Clearly incised with the artist's signature "delide" and dated "95" on the underside, this piece is a phenomenal example of 1990s studio art pottery. Whether displayed on its own as a sculptural wabi-sabi accent or styled with dried botanicals, this earthy, organic modern vessel will make a captivating focal point on any shelf or mantle. Please note that due to the low-fire nature of raku, this vessel remains porous and is strictly intended for decorative use rather than holding water. It can be used as a planter cover by tucking a small nursery pot (less than 3 inches in diameter) inside the vessel.

Measurements (approximate - rounded to the nearest quarter inch):
5.5 inches wide at widest diameter
    6 inches in height
    2.75 inches diameter at base
