This charming antique trinket or candy dish is a fine example of early 20th-century silver plate, manufactured by the Canadian branch of the renowned Meriden Britannia Company in Hamilton, Ontario. The piece features a distinctively geometric, reticulated (pierced) honeycomb or hexagonal lattice design along the sides, rising to a smooth, rolled rim. It rests on three small, spherical ball feet that provide a stable and elegant lift. The underside is clearly stamped with the maker's mark: "EPNS / MADE AND GUARANTEED BY / MERIDEN B. CO. / HAMILTON, CANADA" along with the scales logo and model number 0651. Crafted from Electro-Plated Nickel Silver (EPNS), this dish has a solid base that shows signs of use consistent with its age, including visible tarnish (patina) and surface scuffing in the well. It is an ideal size for use as a jewelry catchall, a bonbon dish, or simply as a decorative accent for a vanity or side table.
Age and condition: Circa 1900 – 1920s based on manufacturer and pattern. Tarnish consistent with antique age. Slight bend to the rim on one side of the bowl, only noticeable upon close inspection.
Measurements (approximate - rounded to the nearest quarter inch): 7 inches in diameter 1.25 inches in height
