Antique Black Forest Cuckoo Clock Wood Bird Salvage Adornment

This striking piece of antique architectural salvage is an authentic hand-carved bird and leaf crest, originally the crowning topper of a traditional Black Forest cuckoo clock. Meticulously detailed, the carving features a bird with outstretched wings perched atop an ornate, gnarled branch flanked by clusters of deeply veined leaves. The artistry is evident in the individual layers of feathers and the life-like texture of the bird’s breast, all finished in a rich, dark-toned wood that carries a beautiful, aged patina.

The reverse side shows its history as a functional clock component, revealing the natural wood grain and an artisan’s hand-lettered "CLBo" monogram or maker's mark (often associated with high-quality makers). Now repurposed for home decor, the piece includes a pre-installed sawtooth hanger for easy wall display. While structurally sound, this carving displays the authentic wear expected of a true antique, including minor chips to the wood on the wing tips and branch ends which further validate its vintage character and provenance. This soulful fragment of horological history serves as a perfect statement piece for a gallery wall, a mantle, or a curated bookshelf.

Condition:
This wood salvage is lightweight and in good antique condition with expected marks of wear and scuffs to the surface. The tip of the bird's wing that extends upwards has an existing and very old repair line where the tip has been reconnected. Noticeable only upon close inspection (see listing photos closely).

SHIPPING
As much as possible, we utilize recycled shipping boxes. The box you receive your item in may show signs of wear and pre-use.
