  • Details
This is an elegant, vintage silver-plated footed centerpiece bowl, known as a compote, crafted in the popular "Andover" pattern. Manufactured by the International Silver Company (I.S.) and marketed under the highly respected WM Rogers trade name, the piece is identifiable by the distinctive (eagle) WM ROGERS (star) hallmark, a mark used on quality hollowware from the early to mid-20th century (c. 1920s–1950s). The shallow, wide bowl sits atop a substantial foot and features a classic decorative element: a detailed beaded or rope-twist rim, which draws on earlier Victorian and Edwardian design aesthetics. The bowl bears its pattern name ("ANDOVER") and other production marks ("I.W.W. & CO. R.S.A." and the model number "7614") on the base, confirming its authenticity. The piece currently displays a rich, dark patina, highlighting its age and adding depth and character, though it could be polished to a bright shine if desired. This versatile piece would traditionally have been used as a fruit bowl, a nut dish, or a sophisticated base for a striking table centerpiece, making it a beautiful and functional addition to any collection or home décor.

Disclosures: Other than the heavy patina/tarnish marks of wear and general age, no major flaws to note.
