A stunning and highly collectible piece of authentic English Victorian Flow Ware pottery!

This striking antique gravy boat is decorated in the desirable transferrer technique that resulted in a bled pattern of the transfer ink creating a softening or "flow" around the edges. This dark transferware features intentionally softened or "bled" edges and deeply saturated color, characteristic of Flow Ware, which gives the intricate pattern a moody, painterly quality.

The detailed Chinoiserie design showcases a classic Asian landscape with beautiful pagodas, stylized bridges, exotic palm trees, and ornate floral and damask borders that drift across the white ironstone body. This elegant boat would have been a centerpiece of a formal Victorian dinner setting. It is now a prized piece for collectors, and makes a unique, sophisticated decorative accent, centerpiece, or display item.

Faint partial transfer mark on the underside (unreadable due to age and production methods). Consistent with its age of over approximately 150 years, this piece displays lovely antique character. The glaze shows desirable all-over crackling (crazing), particularly on the interior and base, with dark tea colored staining deeply embedded into the crazing, especially at the foot rim, adding to its genuine antique patina. There are small chips on the rim of the pedestal base (as shown in photos) and typical minor manufacturing imperfections (pinholes, firing flaws). Other than the identified minor chipping, there are no major cracks or breaks to disclose. The overall presentation remains bold and beautiful.

Measurements (approximate - rounded to the nearest quarter inch):

    9 inches in length
    5.75 inches at tallest point
    3.25 inches wide
