Discover a piece of genuine American history and craftsmanship with this authentic vintage H. Gerstner & Sons machinists' chest. Made by a company renowned for its quality since 1906, this is a collector's dream and a highly functional piece for any home or workshop.

This chest is a rare model, featuring a unique nine-drawer configuration designed for the meticulous organization of tools and instruments. The solid oak construction, finger-jointed corners, and rich, aged patina speak to its durability and history. The chest features its original brass hardware, a leather top handle for portability, and the iconic H. Gerstner & Sons label from Dayton, Ohio, still proudly displayed on the bottom drawer.

Originally designed to protect valuable precision tools, many of the drawers are felt-lined to prevent rust and scratches. Other drawers are tin lined. Today, these chests are treasured for their versatility and are perfect for storing jewelry, watches, art supplies, or a unique display for a cherished collection.

This chest is in good vintage condition with a beautiful, well-earned patina. The wood shows age-appropriate wear, including minor scratches, scuffs, and marks, which add to its character and authenticity. All nine drawers slide smoothly. The remaining felt lining inside the drawers is well worn and, in some drawers, exhibit minor staining and past evidence of residues. As is common for these pieces, the original front drop-down cover is missing, but this does not impact the functionality of the drawers.

This chest is more than just a storage case; it's a testament to American manufacturing and a timeless piece of furniture that brings a touch of industrial elegance to any space.

    VINTAGE & ANTIQUE
Vintage and antique items are pre-owned and aged goods. In most cases, we do not clean or polish any items that come into our shop. Once you remove an item's traces of age and patina it's not something you can reverse, so we leave those activities up to the buyer. We try our best to describe items accurately and disclose any and all flaws and imperfections. Please refer to pictures as a visual description. We want to make sure you are happy with your purchase so, please do not hesitate to ask any questions you may have prior to checkout.

    SHIPPING
As much as possible, we utilize recycled shipping boxes. The box you receive your item in may show signs of wear and pre-use.

    PHOTOGRAPHY
All photos are taken in natural light and we do not use any photo filters and do not perform and photo editing (other than basic photo cropping). Depending on your monitor settings, there may be subtle differences in color once you see your item in person.

    HANDMADE
Handmade items are made slowly and carefully one project and a time. They are not produced by machinery, and although we work hard to ensure each piece is as perfect as possible, there is a potential for organic flaws to occur from our processes. We feel that these flaws add personality and unique character traits to our pieces. Please do not purchase if you averse to organic process flaws.
Please, also be aware that fiber art is normally more “fuzzy” in person that it appears in photos.
