  • Details
This oil painting on canvas board is a "Portrait of Old Parr" in the style of Peter Paul Rubens. "Old Parr" is the nickname for Thomas Parr, a purported centenarian, and recognized and England longest-lived man. He is believed to have lived to be 152 years old and died in 1635. He is usually depicted as an old man with a long white beard and sometimes with an instrument. Likely painted in the early to mid-1900s. Disclosures to this painting is the evident large tare in the upper lefthand corner and a repair to the left inner part of the frame. Even with its flaws it is packed with an incredible amount of moody character. We love his style and personality. Painting is unsigned. Gold gilt wood frame. Lightweight with a hanging wire on the back ready to hang in your space.
